ACU receives national award for social purpose leadership

WINNIPEG, MB – Assiniboine Credit Union (ACU) is proud to announce it has received the 2026 Outstanding Social Purpose Company (Large), Greater Purpose Award. The national awards recognize organizations that embed purpose into their business and create meaningful impact for people, communities, and the environment.

The award recognizes ACU's long-standing commitment to using finance as a force for good. Greater Purpose highlighted ACU’s integration of social purpose across its governance, policies, strategy, products, partnerships, operations and culture, including its corporate bylaws and broader business ecosystem.

"As a member-owned cooperative, ACU has always believed that financial services can create positive change," said Kevin Sitka, President and Chief Executive Officer. "This recognition reflects the collective commitment and efforts of our leaders, employees, member-owners, and community partners who help advance our purpose every day."

ACU works to create value that extends beyond financial returns. This includes advancing financial inclusion, investing in communities through donations and social finance, supporting Truth and Reconciliation, and promoting environmental sustainability.  Through these efforts, ACU remains committed to helping individuals and organizations thrive, strengthening communities and local economies, and contributing to a more sustainable future for all.

ACU's recognition demonstrates how purpose-driven decision-making can support business success while strengthening outcomes for members, communities, employees, and the environment. Watch the Greater Purpose Award presentation video.

"This award is an honour and an encouragement to continue building a more inclusive, resilient, and prosperous future," said Sitka. "We're grateful to everyone who contributes to making that impact possible."
