Open accounts when it works for you

ACU’s digital banking gives you the freedom to open and fund new accounts quickly and securely—no branch required. Whether you’re starting fresh with a chequing account or setting money aside in a savings account, it only takes a few simple steps. Digital banking puts you in control, letting you open accounts securely from your phone or computer, whenever it’s most convenient.

Open a new account

Open a chequing or savings account

Sign in to your ACU iOS or Android app
Select Accounts from the bottom menu
Under the Chequing or Savings category, select Open Account
Select the account package you want to open and select Open account
Fill in the fields and select Continue
Review the details and select Continue
Select the Accounts menu again to check your newly opened account

If you select “Yes” to the question, “Will this account be used by or on behalf of a third party?” — please book an appointment to open it at your local branch.

Open a term deposit

Sign in to your ACU iOS or Android app
Select Accounts from the bottom menu
Under the Investments category, select Open Account
Select the term deposit type you want to open and select Open account
Select the account you wish to fund the term deposit from, fill in the rest of the fields and select Continue
Review the details and select Continue

If you select “Yes” to the question, “Will this account be used by or on behalf of a third party?” — please book an appointment to open it at your local branch.

Open a new TFSA or RRSP

You must have a TFSA/RRSP plan and TFSA/RRSP savings account to open and make a term deposit online. To open a TFSA/RRSP plan and savings account, book an appointment today. You will have to move funds from an eligible chequing or savings account to the TFSA/RRSP savings account before funding the term deposit.

Sign in to your ACU iOS or Android app
Select Accounts from the bottom menu
Under the Tax-Free Savings Accounts or Retirement category, select Open account
Select the term deposit type you want to open and select Open account
Select the registered plan you want to contribute to
Select the registered savings account you wish to fund the term deposit from, fill in the rest of the fields and select Continue
Review the details and select Continue

Spousal RRSPs are not available through online banking at this time. You will need to contact us to process this request.

Your RRSP and TFSA contribution limits are established by Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) and are based on all of your investment activity information, which is known only to you. The limits are calculated by CRA and are communicated to you alone. For this reason, we recommend that you check your limits before making an RRSP or TFSA transaction, in order to ensure you don’t over-contribution.
